From Montreat College

Set in the beautiful foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains just outside of Asheville, North Carolina, Montreat College has about 650 students on its main campus, providing the benefits of a tight-knit community.

A private, Christian, liberal arts college founded in 1916, Montreat offers associate, bachelor's, and master's degree programs online and in-person for traditional and adult students. We prioritize intellectual inquiry, spiritual formation, and preparation for calling and career-approaching education from a holistic perspective and encouraging critical thinking.

With a diverse range of over 90 majors, minors, and concentrations, students can study everything from outdoor recreation studies, to industry-leading health sciences, to cybersecurity-an area in which the National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have designated Montreat as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education.

Dedicated to thought leadership, Montreat College has also established the Carolina Cyber Center (C3), a national demonstration project in state-wide cybersecurity preparation and threat mitigation, combining industry, academia, and government under one roof.

The College's main campus for four-year traditional students is located in Montreat, NC. Our nearby outdoor athletic complex in Black Mountain fields our 20 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) teams. We serve our adult and online students from offices in Asheville, Charlotte, and Morganton, NC.
