UMO adds new programs every year, most recently adding computer science, justice studies, and Nursing. UMO is also the first NC-based private university to offer a flight school, allowing students to become licensed pilots while earning their degree. Additional fields of study include business, agriculture, education, science, music, recreation and leisure studies, psychology, and Christian studies.
Outside the classroom, students can compete on 23 highly competitive NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletic teams or participate in more than 25 student organizations.
