Direct admissions allow colleges to send offers to students based just on GPAs or a few other criteria

By Melissa Korn The Wall Street Journal

Again making the news media rounds, the Wall Street Journal features SAGE Scholars FastTrak program in its most recent profile of College Direct Admissions. Squarely within the charge, SAGE Scholars, Concourse, and Common App receive high praise in Melissa Korn’s most recent article, “More Colleges Offering Admission to Students Who Never Applied.”

Applauding SAGE Scholars newest student-centered program, WSJ highlights FastTrak’s unique ability to match highly qualified students with colleges and universities that best suit their needs before they apply.

Larry Eby, executive director of institutional advancement, said even modest gains from FastTrak would count as a success. Korn quoting Eby writes, “If we have one enrolled student from it, that’s one that we didn’t have before.”

Gaining national prominence, SAGE Scholars is changing the paradigm of college admissions with FastTrak, allowing colleges to apply to students before the admissions process begins. By adding key pieces of information uploaded to their student portal—transcript, GPA, and activities—SAGE Scholars Member Institutions and students are on the FastTrak to admission.

With more than 30 colleges and counting signed on for SAGE Scholars direct admissions program, Korn speaks to Goldey-Beacom’s tremendous success with FastTrak admissions. The college, encompassing approximately 700 undergraduates, was overwhelmed when it saw 4,333 students qualify for admission through FastTrak, based on its 2.5 GPA threshold.

One thing is clear: SAGE Scholars FastTrak leads the Direct Admissions charge.
