Marymount Manhattan College Joins SAGE Scholars Tuition Rewards

By SAGE Scholars — December 8, 2022

Marymount Manhattan College, which in November celebrated the launch of the new Judith Mara Carson Center for Visual Arts, has become the 31st private college in New York State to join the SAGE Scholars Tuition Rewards program.

The Visual Arts Center, made possible by a $25 million lead gift, is designed to serve as a cross-disciplinary creative hub that brings together the College’s full range of visual arts - from graphic design, illustration, photography and animation to costume design, web design, and book design. Housed on the 8th and 7th floors of Carson Hall, the Center’s versatile, digital immersion project space offers the MMC community the ability to create, collaborate, and showcase work.

Acting, cinematography and video production, communications, dance, drama and theatre production, and performing arts are some of MMC’s most popular majors for the 1,500 undergraduate students. A top college for Broadway performers, Backstage ranked MMC as the # 2 school in the country attended by TONY Award nominees.

The campus is located in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, on East 71st and East 72nd Streets between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. Students live in a 55-story dorm in Midtown Manhattan - or in the newly constructed Cooper Square Residence Hall in Greenwich Village. Now coed, MMC does not offer athletic teams. Founded in 1936 by Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, an order of Catholic nuns, MMC has been non-denominational since 1961. The College boasts a 9:1 student-faculty ratio, ensuring small classes.

MMC is the 38th member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) to participate in Tuition Rewards.

Marymount Manhattan College

From our beginnings, 85 years ago, as a two-year women’s college, Marymount Manhattan College has transformed significantly - and evolved to meet the changing needs of our students. But one thing has remained constant: Our commitment to providing higher education for diverse populations.

Coed and non-denominational, MMC has a longstanding commitment to first-generation students, who represent approximately 38% of an incoming class. A first-generation college student is a student whose parent(s) or guardian(s) has not earned a bachelor’s degree in the United States or abroad.

We want to see all of our students rise to their creative and intellectual potential, develop their own sense of personal growth, and chart their unique path to professional success. Equally important, we want them to be engaged members of their communities.

Located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, MMC is an urban, independent, liberal arts college. We are ranked as a top school for Broadway performers. Backstage, the most trusted publication for budding and established performers to find casting opportunities and gain career advice, lists Marymount Manhattan College as the # 2 school where TONY Award nominees go to get their start for promising futures on the Great White Way.

Acting, cinematography and video production, communications, dance, drama and theatre production, and performing arts are some of our most popular majors. We offer 30+ majors — B.A., B.S. and B.F.A. degrees — along with 40+ minors and pre-professional programs.

We’ll even give you a grant to visit us. Get more information at mmm.edu .
